Continued from Part II
In the Old Testament there are quite a lot of scriptures that speak things that are applicable to America today. If I were the only one saying this, I would probably keep my mouth shut, but this message is being given from strategic places all over the land. It is a difficult message; hard to hear, and very hard to deliver. A person can understand why the Old Testament prophet Jeremiah was called the “weeping prophet”. What God showed him and what God told him to tell the people made his journey a rough one. Who wants to hear a negative message all the time? Yet, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Daniel, Ezekiel, and other of the prophets lived during times when Israel was bringing destruction on themselves, and it was bound to catch them by surprise. This is because the message was not believed, and so not received. The religious system was no less corrupt than the political one was. God warned and warned and warned. Finally, God got to the place to where there was no remedy left and He was going to judge the nation.
This is the place America is in today! God has warned and warned. There comes a time with nations when the cup of evil fills up and begins to run over. When that happens, God will judge. I’ll say it again, this is the place America is in. I get no pleasure out of saying it, nor writing a post like this. It would be much easier to wax eloquent (which I am no good at!), with a sermon called, “Three steps to your personal wealth”, or something like that.
In Jeremiah chapter 5 it describes the rebellion of the people. At first Jeremiah spoke with the regular people, not the leaders. He didn’t find any interest in God with them. Then he went to the leaders and found the same with them. This is way too much the case with us today. Just so I’m understood, I am not saying that there are no honest, good, and Godly people left in America. Not at all. There are a lot!! I am saying though that the Church as a whole, which should be a strong influence on every segment of our country, has failed. Our grade is an emphatic “F”. Immediately our hackles go up when we hear someone say that, yet look at the facts. Our society is rotting out from under us. The very foundations that made America the most unique nation on earth are crumbling—and fast!
I mentioned earlier that God has set some things into stone for a nation that has had God’s hand involved in its formation. See what it says in Deuteronomy 28 of God’s Word:
“If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all His commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God: You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks. Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed. You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out. The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land He is giving you. The Lord will establish you as His holy people, as He promised you on oath, IF YOU KEEP THE COMMANDS OF THE LORD YOUR GOD AND WALK IN HIS WAYS. The Lord will grant you abundant prosperity—in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground—in the land He swore to your forefathers to give you. The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of His bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations BUT WILL BORROW FROM NONE. The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord Your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom. do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you today, to the right or to the left, following other gods and serving them.” (Deuteronomy 28: 1-14 NIV)
I know that was a lengthy passage but it’s important for us to realize that this is the kind of covenant that our first settlers made with Almighty God, and He has held up His end of the deal. Now allow me to show you the results of not following through on our end of this covenant, as America is guilty of. It is even longer and so I will just include excerpts, but it is found in the same chapter of Deuteronomy.
“However, if you do not obey the Lord your God and do not carefully follow all His commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come upon you and overtake you…The Lord will send on you curses, confusion and rebuke in everything you put your hand to, until you are destroyed and come to sudden ruin because of the evil you have done in forsaking Him. The Lord will plague you with diseases until He has destroyed you form the land…The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies. You will come at them from one direction but flee from them in seven, and you will become a thing of horror to all the kingdoms on earth…You will be unsuccessful in everything you do; day after day you will be oppressed and robbed, with no one to rescue you…Your sons and daughters will be given to another nation, and you will wear out your eyes watching for them day after day, powerless to life a hand. A people that you do not know will eat what your land and labor produce, and you will have nothing but cruel oppression all your days. The sights you see will drive you mad…You will sow much seed in the field but you will harvest little, because locusts will devour it. You will plant vineyards and cultivate them but you will not drink the wine or gather the grapes, because worms will eat them…The alien who lives among you will rise above you higher and higher, but you will sink lower and lower. HE WILL LEND TO YOU, BUT YOU WILL NOT LEND TO HIM. HE WILL BE THE HEAD, BUT YOU WILL BE THE TAIL…All these curses will come upon you. They will pursue you and overtake you until you are destroyed, BECAUSE YOU DID NOT OBEY THE LORD YOUR GOD AND OBSERVE THE COMMANDS AND DECREES HE GAVE YOU…Because you did not serve the Lord your God joyfully and gladly in the time of prosperity, therefore in hunger and thirst, in nakedness and dire poveryty, you will serve the enemies the Lord sends against you. He will put an iron yoke on your neck until He has destroyed you. The Lord will bring a nation against you from far away, from the ends of the earth, like an eagle swooping down, a nation whose language you will not understand, a fierce-looking nation without respect for the old or pity for the young. They will leave you no grain, new wine or oil, nor any calves of your herds or lambs of your flocks until you are ruined. They will lay siege to all the cities throughout your land until the high fortified walls in which you trust fall down. They will besiege all the cities throughout the land the Lord you God is giving you.” (Deuteronomy 28: parts of vs. 15-52)
I purposely included much of this passage because it really says it all. This is continued right on through the next two chapters as well. Then there are many, many explicit scriptures throughout the prophetic books in the Old Testament that speak directly to America at this time. I had fully intended to take a few of these and open them up for you to ponder on, but can’t in this post. I’ll most likely come back to it at another time.
I have apologized many times for sounding so negative in these posts, but what God has to say needs to be heard. John the Baptist’s hard messages were not popular at all, but those that took them serious found God in a new way. I have said before, and I’m not at all alone in this, that America has crossed the line in the sand, and God’s protective and generous hand is lifting off of this nation. It is because we have put people into power that reject the very thought of God and the message that He has presented to the world. America has changed! It cannot be called a Christian nation anymore. This is inevitably a formula for disaster.
The world is being hit with problems and one can read about them happening on a daily basis now. But, America is beginning to experience the same. America has had bad things happen throughout its history, but what has happened lately and what is going to unfold in 2011 is unprecedented for this nation. I suspect that the events in process of unfolding this year will make events of the past few years look like child’s play. How it all will unfold is something that only God really knows because He is the One that controls the timing of all things, but I’ve been saying for a while now that we need to have our seat-belts fastened. Many reject this, but to their own peril.
I have read innumerable reports from reputable news sources about the imminent food shortages all over the world. Don’t think it won’t come here! It is already in process. One of the things I pleaded with people to be careful of, is spending too much at Christmas this last year. My reasoning was because the Lord has said that we are going to need the money. Economic reports show that Americans spent a surprising amount of money this last season—and yet there were more foreclosures than ever in history. Foreclosures are expected to increase even more in 2011.
News article after article has detailed the disasters that have hit many if not most of the bread-baskets of the world this last year due to natural disasters. At the same time we are being coddled by the mainstream media with their upbeat analysis of the recovery which they say is gradually bringing things under control. That is a smoke screen and will be exposed for what it is. At the same time that all these reports are soothing Americans, the government appears to be buying out all the available supply of emergency food that is offered by companies like Mountain House Foods (the largest in the country), and other sources. Interesting, don’t you think?
One research firm after another is warning Americans to prepare for food riots–THIS YEAR! The top economists say the so-called recovery has been propped up with every means possible, but is failing–badly. The only surprising thing is that it has held as long as it has. The debt load is TOO HIGH! China is scrambling to make sure that their assets here in our country are secure. They have a great fear of the U.S. defaulting on its commitments. We owe them a huge amount of money that we have no way of paying back.
How can this be? It is because Deuteronomy 28-30 is proving itself to be true. We have been blessed, but are now beginning to experience the curses of kicking God out of America. It is destroying us. America has enemies that were not a major worry in past years, but today they are a great concern. China and Russia are both major enemies–no matter how much they smile for the photo-ops. Both countries are putting great efforts and money into their military machines. Neither one alone can bring America down yet, but together they can. They also both know the vast resources that America has not tapped. Do you think the environmentalists will be keeping these two foreign governments from drilling? No. Not a chance. Then of course there is the problem with North Korea which I covered in another post. There is also Iran. And more…
America is also going to experience some huge geophysical events, the type that one alone can sink the nation. We also have enemies within that are just waiting for the go-ahead from their leaders. Our weather is another major problem. We are just seeing the beginning of this problem as well. The system that controls the world weather is out of whack, both with the ocean current and the jet stream that normally keep our weather under control. It is not caused by man’s industriousness! It is caused by the sun!
America as we have known it, is no more. There are lots of “feel-good” prophets saying just the opposite, but Scripture tells a different story. People however are given this very space of time right now to settle the score with the God that has paid the price for their freedom. God said this in Deuteronomy 30:19: “…I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now CHOOSE life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to His voice, and hold fast to Him. For THE LORD IS YOUR LIFE…
David Wilkerson is one person that has spoken much on this subject for decades, and he has been laughed at, ridiculed, and disdained because of his heavy message, but He will prove out to be right on what he has said is coming to America. He said over a year ago that God impressed him heavily that a very big event is coming to America that is going to cause the knees of the strongest of us to knock together! God also woke him up not long ago to tell him that America is going to experience a huge shock. I believe him, because I have been woken up many times myself with this same foreboding. It fits in with things that God has shown me over the years. It is time that we as people get real serious in seeking the only God that is capable of caring for us during events this dramatic and terrible. GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF HIS OWN, but as great as His grace is, He is now expecting His people to grow up and become the holy people that we were designed to be. Not “holier than thou’s”, but people that really do represent their God well. Don’t put it off, please! God is our answer, and no matter what happens, if our hearts are right with God then we can… Keep Looking Up!
