As I was reading my Bible during my personal devotions this morning, I read the passage at the end of Matthew 6 which most of us are familiar with. These are the words:

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:33-34 NKJV

One does not have to talk with very many people to notice that there is a common feeling that some ominous events are imminent. The year 2020 has already proven to be a rough ride for most nations in the world, and there are still two months left in the calendar year. Quite often I get up in the morning questioning what’s going to unfold in the next few hours, usually because of events transpiring the previous day.

I was reminded of the lyrics of a hit song written by John Fogarty and released in 1969. These are the words:

I see the bad moon arising.

I see trouble on the way.

I see earthquakes and lightnin’.

I see bad times today

***

(Chorus)

Don’t go around tonight,

Well, it’s bound to take your life,

There’s a bad moon on the rise.

***

I hear hurricanes blowing.

I know the end is coming soon.

I fear rivers over-flowing.

I hear the voice of rage and ruin.

***

(Chorus)

Don’t go around tonight

Well, it’s bound to take your life,

There’s a bad moon on the rise.

***

Hope you got your things together.

Hope you are quite prepared to die.

Looks like we’re in for nasty weather.

One eye is taken for an eye.

***

(Chorus)

Don’t go around tonight

Well, it’s bound to take your life

There’s a bad moon on the rise

Although I would not say the song was written from a Biblical or Christian view, it is rather prophetic of this age.

At the time I am writing this update, it is November 2, 2020. Here in the U.S. we are facing probably the most crucial presidential election in our nation’s history–at the very least, since 1864 when Abraham Lincoln was voted in for his second term during America’s civil war. The U.S. has experienced months of violent riots in many of the nation’s cities, and much worse is being threatened by heavily armed  organizations who would like to force a national revolution if their chosen candidate is not elected.

Do we have a “bad moon” arising? Prophetically, I believe we do. Are we about to witness political upheaval and societal collapse and anarchy in America? There are upheavals and civil wars in many other places in our world today. Is it now going to happen in the US? I don’t know, but the God we serve does know and no matter what happens, He will still be in control. Our job as believers is to keep our eyes focused on our Messiah, Jesus, and finish the task He has given us to complete. The doors to the Age of Grace are quickly closing.

This brings me to the House of Blessing…

I was in the State of Nevada for a few days and while there received a short call from Pastor R. Unfortunately, I did not have any paper at my disposal at the time, and so was not able to write some quick notes down as I spoke with him. One of the things he shared however, I was not able to forget. He told of a group of 11 HOB missionaries who were sharing about Jesus and happened to be in close proximity to each other. One of them happened to step on an explosive in the ground and several missionaries were killed, others wounded. Before any of the injured could crawl away or be helped to get away, Syrian soldiers came and executed every single one of them where they lay injured!

These, as have thousands of HOB missionaries before them in the past 8 years, left their humble tents in the morning having no idea whatsoever what would befall them on that fateful day. That is why God tells us not to be overly concerned about more than one day at a time. He has our tomorrows in His hands. These eleven that were lost are now in the presence of our loving Lord and Master! They will never hunger or suffer again! They are now part of the welcoming committee that will greet us all when we are gathered to that great assembly of believers surrounding Jesus. Soon and very soon…

Early this morning, I received another quick call from Pastor R to let me know that he is back in northern Syria once again. He said the HOB missionaries were very happy to have him back among them again. I can imagine so!

Because he had just gotten back, Pastor R had not had time to gather much updated information from the different ministry locations. He did say however that the COVID-19 is still ravaging the refugee camps in Syria and some of the missionaries who had already been infected with the virus and had overcome it, have become re-infected. This is the case with Omar and Sami. In spite of this, their ministry team was able to pray with around 700 people and lead them to Jesus.

The story was much the same with Mufiedah, Sarah, and Fadwa and the 75 women on their ministry team. They were able to reach about 420 women and pray the sinner’s prayer with them.

In all other locations across the Middle East the missionaries of the House of Blessing continue the work of evangelism. The gathering in small groups for communion also continues as they are able. God is good!

As the weather continues to get colder now, there is great need for clothing, mattresses, blankets, and of course always food. As HOB is able, they locate used clothing, blankets, and wheat, lintels, beans, etc. Most of these needs are not being met by the UN.

In conclusion, as always, please pray for the House of Blessing; their leaders, missionaries, and the hundreds of thousands in their underground community of believers. For those who would like to donate for their needs, please see the instructions on the home page of this website. All funds go to the House of Blessing. Thank You for your prayers and your support!

Forever in His Service,

Jake Geier

  1. I have been reading Matthew 6. Worrying distracts us from doing what we need to do.
Thanks for the up date o HOB.

  2. Hello Jake & Anne ,

It was good to hear Pastor R is feeling better and as always good news and bad seem to be the norm from this area . The deceased are certainly much more well off in the glorious place they now are with our Father. I truly believe the UN would be more inclined to help HOB missionaries if they were murderous extremists rather than Christians.

The living and the deceased HOB members are as always in our daily prayers along with you wonderful folks. Kind of strange how The song you mention was very prophetic in the day. Have you ever heard radio personality Paul Harvey tell his story “If I were the devil ” ? This was another accurate prophecy for the days in which we live. I would hazard to say that Mr. Harvey is also with our Father at this time.

Thank you for the update and see you soon, Kevin& Cathy

  3. thank you Jake. I know followers of Christ are sheep among wolves especially in many muslim
background countries. What saints, what role models of men and women dying to themselves to
often die with and for Christ. It is a joy to unite with HOB in prayer for the church, for the expansion of the Kingdom of God and for the ongoing work of HOB in the harvest field of Syria.
